Pilates is fantastic for all levels of fitness. We learn the basics of Pilates, by finding our correct posture, neutral spine and then learning how to switch on our all-important core muscles. We work on finding our pelvic floor muscles and also learn how to properly use our abdominal (tummy) muscles.
Each week provides different exercises to challenge your muscles and develop your strength, mobility and flexibility. We always start our exercises at a base level and build up, giving options for different levels and abilities. Our aim is that everyone in class will feel successful.
We incorporate lots of mobilty exercises into our Pilates classes, in society today we spend a lot of time in fixed positions, at a desk, driving etc. By adding in functional body conditioning movements into our classes we allow our bodies to release areas of tightness, which can improve the overall balance and posture within the body. Classes are energising, mobilising and most importantly achievable.
Please bring your own mat. You will also require a small 7 ins Pilates ball. These can be purchased from Achieva in class for £5 or you can buy online from Amazon. We practice Pilates in bare feet or grip socks. Please wear something comfortable that you can move freely in, but not too loose so that your instructor can see your alignment and make amendments if needed.
Liz teaches the Tuesday and Wednesday evening classes and Corinne teaches Wednesday morning. Further information can be found under our Instructors tab. Achieva Pilates classes are suitable for the healthy adult who is looking to improve their strength, flexibility and mobility. Achieva Pilates classes are group fitness classes which include modifications and adaptations to suit a range of abilities.
Please note if you have a medical condition or specific injury then please contact Liz directly at email@example.com to discuss. We have a wide and varied class membership featuring a range of levels and abilities, but if you have a specific issue, then Liz can advise what is most suitable. If a group fitness Pilates class is not the right setting, then we work closely with several local instructors who are able to offer specific 1:1 training.
